Just to add to Sellsword's comment, don't forget that the GMs were/ are experienced players themselves and so will have encountered lag on several occasions over the years. They take things like this into account when speaking with any player- those who they suspect are AFK and also those who they don't.

One other condition on the reward: I will only reward the levels to the player that reported it, and not to another account.

DaHobbit wrote that in December 2016. We now have the 'Are you there?' function to cut down AFK grinders, but still to answer your question:
It was, and still is, within the rules to grind with pets.
It was, and still is, breaking the rules to grind AFK with pets.

You could send a report to the GM inbox. Don't forget screenshots with /info as well. Levels have been given for afk reports before, but GM might need to locate the afk player first.
