The Fun Is In the Diversity

Post by Gullander »

It is great how many different players from around the world play this game. I have had friends on my friend list from India, Holland, England, Scotland, Belarus, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, United States, Mexico, Argentina, Brasil, Cameroun, Romania, and others I'm sure I have forgotten. Some were political and some non political, some non religious others religious, and some who knew English and others who knew very little. But somehow we hit it off as friends. Some chose clan life and others chose a different path. I helped them and they helped me and we had a reliance on each other, affection, and respect. It is really a wondrous thing! We find people are not so different than ourselves and are kindred spirits though distant in miles and from at times very different cultures. So here is to my worldwide brothers and sisters...I say thank you for enriching my life in so many ways! :D

Very well stated, and something to keep in mind as well.

I'm going to scan my friend list and see if I can work out where they're from.

Well said Gull.
My friends list looks like a seating plan at the UN at times.
Just added a little fairy last night whose English was sparse to say the least, all I know is she (because the character is a fairy) said:
help quest?
i from Asia
I'll bend over backward to help her.
Language will be an issue - who cares!

Interacting with people of different cultures and languages only goes to enhance and enrich ourselves

Language is about communicating ideas.

You want a hamburger and coke, you go into a resaurant:
  • and say to a waiter "Goblt giggle de op ton tutu dom iccy"
    • he brings you a hamburger and coke, you expressed yourself "well enough to be understood"
  • or maybe you say "Goblt giggle de op ton tutu dom iccy"
    • and get chicken soup and a beer you know you messed up somewhere!
Now, ¿Où est der caffè?
I am always AFK!
