Reminds me of a few other threads. I'll stick with my comment from this thread.

There have been moments of arrogance, laziness, stupidity, ignorance, and even clumsiness that have cost me pets. If someone else is literally just playing the game without even thinking about you and your pets die, that's on you.

I do still abhor the player that will go out of his way to kill pets, but whether intentionally or accidentally you need to pay attention to those little yellow dots on the map if they do not handle red dots on the map very well. That's literally the the way to save your pets in many, many cases. Exciting dot watching, get in on it!

Being aware of your surroundings will certainly help.

I once saw a video of an attacking player A (not saying names) who attacked a grinding player B. When B tried to escape, instead of pursuing, A proceded to mass spawn in order to kill the parked pets instead of the player. Both players were clanned, in enemy clans, and no offensive chat was exchanged. Still, the intent of A to kill B's pets when he couldn't get a kill on B himself was apparent.

Not all cases are this easy to diagnose.

I had a player demand gold of he would drag huntresses down on my staff stans while I was grinding crocy mobs. I said no and he went to get a large spawn. I just ducked across the border when I saw him coming.

I usually stun them (if possible) and let their own spawns kill them.

That is a great strategy for map 0, 2 if you are grinding crazed lions on the other side of the fence from the miner camp stairs. Stun and then duck down the stairs from the far side of the fence.

Uhhhh... I mean, someone told that to me?
