The recipient is notified of the gift box arriving (either immediately or at next logon) and it appears in their inventory. The gift box can then be activated and the box is replaced in the inventory by its contents.
Another great suggestion from PK glory days ;)

I've played games with mail systems, but to claim your items, you had to go to a mailbox.
(although IIRC some offered a personal delivery for real money subscriptions)

I'm not saying it's completely a terrible idea...
I just don't see FT as big enough yet (land wise) to really need it.. ok, walking is slow, but to walk from one end of FT to the opposite does not take hours.

If such an idea were implemented, I'd strongly suggest the mailbox method WITHOUT personal delivery..
WHY?

Oh, well, no one in this game abuses any mechanic, ever.
Imagine players getting resupplied in PvP...
And the "box that is in your inventory that holds multiple items".. yeah I'd just not open it until needed.

I do see the mailbox thing as a good thing for sending things to players when they're offline.
Mailboxes could be in the major towns etc.

In the game that both @Arashiko and I mention, gift boxes could only be opened under set circumstances (i.e. not fighting,, etc.). No reason that same rules couldn't apply to FT.

Wouldn't work under current mechanics.
They'd simply run away a distance, and open the box there, similarly to how they regen hp.

If PvP is ever "fixed", then sure.
But as is, I don't think so.

well, could make it that players can only open boxes on Start Map. This eliminates PvP from the equation

Start map, and maybe certain towns?
That sounds similar to the mailbox idea... lol

Hey, you and I both hate PvP.
But it's part of the game.
On clan maps, this would be a nightmare... but let's talk about you and me.

Imagine, you're just grinding, or talking with friends, and some clown attacks you...
He seems to not be overly tough, so hit him back with some spells to either kill or scare off...
...with the current set up, he can already have a ton of items to annoy us (more if he abuses a bug)
add to that the idea of boxes in his inventory he can open that contain multiple items...
...I'd only get attacked more I think, how about you?

Most features of this game are implemented with good intent, made for the good players.
It's due to those who like to "abuse" in some way that features are nerfed or removed completely.
The idea could work in many ways, but I always think of how it can be abused first...
I know what I'm talking about here. If they can abuse it, they will.

This trading system is good. The only demerit is that i have to click twice to receive an item. Which becomes a little cumbersome when i am receiving items from a friend or transferring multiple items to my alt.
So maybe i would suggest that once a person is friend , maybe we need click once to receive an item like in the older system.
Or maybe make this system better by allowing transfer of multiple items(maybe 10 at a time) a single time like we keep things in a house. We can click all items to transfer at 1 time and transfer to our alt provided alt has enough space in backpack(10 spaces).
What is Death!!
To think our self confidence is lower than that of our enemies is Death!!
Staying alive in battlefield in fear of our enemies is Death!!
Running from our enemy instead of fighting is Death!!
