I'm sure that the GMs would have access to those maps, even if other players didn't. Besides, adding resources/quests/etc could be done by comp later. No need to even have them in the sandbox mode that regular players can access. Leave things as they are (with the editor setup), and just make and send the other details seperately. The only reason to make a seperate map for a player anyway is for serious content developers. Not everyone needs (or should get) their own map.

@SellSword & @madmaniacal I agree, GMs should be able and most likely will be able to enter maps in progress as they are able to enter all maps currently, maps in progress should be no exception to GMs travel destinations.

hello u all...

i think y comp opened map to all, is to use some maps for the game in future...

So u need to edit a map with an idea...where u can put a quest or more.

Remember my 1st try.

I created a small quest, not good looking, but i made it in 2-3 minutes with an idea.

Someone gave it a name: SK-forest ! lol cool idea.

The quest was ... who reached at 1st the magic tree.
Maybe i can put a chest under the tree with a reward in, for those who reached it at 1st.
Lol...
My idea was....

... go into the house. in the house there should b a NPC. The NPC should give u a quest. The quest should b...who found and reach the magic tree (look at my pictures i posted) It can not b reached at normal way. u need to find a way to that tree. Cut enough trees to reach the magic tree.
Maybe it was only a 2 minutes idea. It could b better ! If someone reached the magic tree there should b a chest with a reward in. Pick up the reward and go back to the NPC in house. Show him the reward, and u get a reward from him too for that quest.

Lol.....a 2 minutes Flash in my brain only !

Maybe i rebuild these map in the future, but atm i m too busy for it !

C U.....

Great ideas SK. I really need to try out the map editor!

Edit: I really like the idea of chopping down trees to reach a destination. I wonder if it could be programmed so they grow back quickly and you are in danger of being trapped?

I like the idea of clearing a path to your destination, but with trees you'd be left with a stump that you can't walk past until it disappears. If that could be changed there would be some opportunities, but then there would be a special kind of tree needed.

The closest think I can think of for rocks is entering HGM for the first time. You need the +3 pick and clear a rock permanently, but then you basically teleport like a normal door.

Tbh, SellSword, that might be possible (trees acting like the rocks in HGM). The rocks are coded like quest npcs, and why couldn't a tree do the same? However, maps/quests should be for everyone, to some degree. Make it require more than just chop/mine/etc, or new players won't stand a chance. Perhaps a more random chance, like some other quests. Player's navigate it, and may the best rng win...

On a side note, I had a quest idea a couple years ago that I never did anything with. Perhaps others could try. The Santa npc that gives a low lvl quest (lvl 10), could be utilized for a new one. Here's the plot:
Elves (recolored gnome skin) have gone mad in Santa's Workshop. With Christmas coming up, Santa needs your help. The 8 reindeer need to be found and escorted (1 at a time) to the sleigh (roebuck non-combat npc [removed from player unless on Workshop maps, to prevent abuse of non-combat follower]), presents need to be recovered (elf drops), and the sleigh needs to be repaired (magic planks and excellent ores). Possibly a boss version of Santa (recolored to be Krampus) to get the final piece of it all.
Thoughts?
