Advice on submitting skins

Post by MadMikael »

For the time being, skins may be submitted by players for possible implementation into the game.
Only skins with full animation sets are usable; so no rabbits, pigs, npcs etc. will be usable for players.
The post for submitting skins is in the link below. You should read advice here before you click it.
PLEASE READ THE FIRST POST IN THE THREAD FOR RULES, INSTRUCTIONS, AND LINKS
If you do not, your post may be ignored or deleted, and you may even get punished.
  • 1. Don't post more than 5 suggestions, as stated in the first post in the linked thread, or ALL your posts may be deleted. You may edit or delete your posts as necessary to do this. If you deleted some posts to post new submissions, in your new post you should say that you deleted them, so your new post doesn't get deleted accidentally.
    2. Check the ENTIRE THREAD before submitting a skin, to avoid similar/duplicates. Yes, I know this is not a fun thing, but duplications can be deleted/ignored. If you see any posts that do not adhere to the rules, feel free to report with the report button on the post, and describe the issue. Typically, the original post will be kept, while others discarded.
    3. When you post a skin, POST THE MATRIX separately, or your submission may be ignored. There's a button in the app to get it, but it doesn't always work. The numbers read from left to right, starting at the top. Use the example in the first post as a guide. Accuracy is important here, so double check the numbers.
    4. Use a pic from the editor files, not a screenshot of the game. If you have difficulty with getting them, post a request under help wanted for the image.
    5. You cannot choose what colors go where. You have to play around with the sliders until you get something you like.
    6. If the background changes color, then your skin may not have the desired colors when implemented. This is because, in the extraction of the PNG image, the transparency effect was not saved. You can still restore it though. Search the web for something like "PNG transparency editor free"; be careful, some sites say they are free, then try to charge you. Typically, you upload the photo, then use tools on the site to decide what to make transparent, and what to keep. They usually have tutorials on site too.
    7. Some skins may appear slightly darker in the game, if implemented. Also, sometimes the matrix does not work correctly, so when implemented may not look like the correct skin. This issue will be addressed in a future update. (Example: at the time of this post, the Black Devil does exist in game, but shows as another color).
    8. Skins are typically awarded to the one who created them, within the confines of the Special Skin rule, found at the bottom of the Main Game rules. It wouldn't hurt for you to keep copies of your submitted skins either, in case of confusion.
    9. blitzcraig had made an in-depth tutorial already, available here. It gives step by step instructions, on how to use the apps, with pictures.
More tips may be added later, as they are suggested.

I've started a "repository" for on request skins/images to be used for editing on handheld devices.
Not everyone can unzip the editor, and get at the image files.
It is best if you try that first, as then, you'll have ALL the images you need.
However, if you want a single image, post in Help Wanted, and someone may get it for you.
Don't request a large amount of images, or you'll likely be ignored.
Images may be added to the repository from time to time.
It is started, here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14594
