I've never heard of anyone fishing a mithril item. That's not to say it's not possible but my gut instinct is a no.

My alt Arozel has managed to fish both iron plate and mithril plate on the same day. Other days, just fish.

I've never fished any tool, let alone a mithril one. I know that's anecdotal evidence, but... I doubt it.
