there are 4 locations you can activate the alter... it seems like maybe two are better than other two (maybe even 100% vs. 0% success rate) ... anyway, there are three spots on bottom (right one by wall is good, other two are bad) and one spot on the left side of it (also good) ... that's my theory for now... tested over 100 times just now, and seems to be true

Oh, I have understood what's happening. Since the last patch, the devil is appearing in random spots in the map, but always outside the room with the altar, so after few seconds the devil disappears.
It has happened with the rebel in the blitzbee dungeon, too: often located over the walls and unreachable.

If you can place knights on horses in front of the cities, I really don't understand why you have made some characters to randomly appear in the map. It is very confusing!

similar, but not quite the same mechanic at play (dark devil is monster with "create" command, rebel is an npc, might on horse by gate is a quest entity... all work slightly differently for different purposes)

My advice comes as a hint: Keep in touch with the wall when you summon the devil.

A hint: go to clan map and kill devil you will have a better chance to get blue key 2 with more people helping to kill him.

Versus you in a tiny room with devil while blink mages spawn in there as well.

There are also 3 clan maps, but no boss spawn. Thats not good
