Other pets players can not bring to the event and blocked the door
They park the pets in a house or stable

For anyone needing to trap your pets on the opposite side of a door for safety (150 pet quest anyone?), it can still be done. From farther away, /wait the pets. Walk closer to the door, /wait again (to let them walk). Take a step towards the door and go through. Since the pets will be walking, they will reappear on the other side of the door after you go through.

I'm sure other ways would work. Just make sure they're walking when you go through a door.

What Justj99 suggests is something that can be done as long as you're staying on the same map. It is something to practice for sure.
