I mentioned in your other post that if you are referring to the beggar kid in Ardesia he is lying as his story keeps changing and he is trying to scam you. You can give him as much gold as you want, but you get no xp or other rewards and just waste your gold.

Actually, i think he HAS encountered a bug of some sort. Look at his exp bar.
