Customizable GUI

Post by MadMikael »

I recently bought a house. Now I'm sporting two pets for crafting purposes.
I hate pets. Constantly in the way; love to block me when I go to change maps.
They tend to walk together, so clicking wait button on one, I usually have to move, click wait button on the other.
I prefer to use /wait (it works on both), but that's time I have to waste typing; and it's harder to do on tablet.
Got me thinking... would be nice if there was a /wait button. And the idea expanded.

Ability to choose what buttons are on/off, and where they are on screen
We all have different devices (screensize), different needs (players don't always have pets, for example), and play in different orientations (portrait vs. landscape)
To cater to all, would be ideal if we could choose these options.
-Buttons should have a toggle (preferably, in game as opposed to settings menu)
-Ability to choose top, bottom, left, or right sides of screen to cater to sizes and orientation (more complex: choosing corners as well, not just sides)

Buttons I think should be able to be chosen:
Quest log button - this is only needed when you're doing quests; why can't I turn it off and access it from the pack or handshake menus when I need it?
/wait button - this is only needed when you have pets, but it would be great to have when you do
Show hp/mana button- This one would be cool. A press, and numerical values of hp/mana are shown for 5 seconds or so. Can be used once per minute? Anyway, I think, constant changing display of these would be preferred, but not doable. I think, my idea here may very well be possible. As it is, mages have no way to know exactly how much mana they have on hand.
/bringpets button - This one is iffy. One that brings your pets to you. You can already do this, by logging off and on. The thing with logging is, if you're under attack, you have that 11 second wait... so maybe that should apply too. But players with pets would love this if they see their pets under attack, or, if their pet did not go through a teleporter with them as it should have.
/c button - many players mistype this and accidentally share info to public chat. Would be nice too if the chat window changed colour to indicate what chat you're typing into. Obviously, only clanned players would want to use it, and maybe not all the time.
/time button
/pos button
Action without attack button - for when you're trying to use a door or talk to an npc etc. when monsters are around
Unequip/equip weapon button - mages in mind, would love to use this for self healing purposes under current mechanics (should remember what weapon you unequipped so it equips same weapon if you have more than 1)
Pet HP button - displays your pets hp (not always visible, on some pets especially), similar to the hp/mana button above
Autowalk button - this has long been a "feature" bug in FT, and is still used if you know how (sometimes, by mistake). It makes your character continually walk in the same direction until you change maps or hit an obstacle. Only available in joystick mode. Would be nice to have it available for both joystick and touchscreen, with ability to use at will.
Stop button - some do autowalking by accident, and sometimes, they can't stop. This button should make you cease moving or attacking, no matter what.

I would add, the /command buttons may really help those who do not use this alphabet as their primary one.
Some languages have a lot of accents (which won't work), and some are completely different (Russian or Arabic for examples).
Also, if this GUI option were implemented, it could help with future additions of features to come.

Great ideas. From a personal perspective, I'm most interested in your pet wait, clan chat and (most of all) action without attack ideas. However, all of them are good and it would indeed be great to be able to customise your screen.
