I wan't hard labor!

Post by zipuil »

Hard labor!

So, I'm jailed... It's boring. There are no activity at all, I just sit there and feel no
remorse. As i understand I can play other character for X days, and be free to go. This is not even a punishment, it's reloll. So what am i suggest:

There sould me NPC, "The Overseer, Mr.Hard".

Inmate #userID, are you ready atone for your guilt with soul healind work?
Yes, Sir, I'm ready to redempt my guilt.
Follow me, inmate #userID!
Sir! Yes! Sir!

You will be teleported to the closed mine, there you shoul work, and dig stones, mining skill would not rise of this, and you should move stones to NPC or some kind of trolley, truck or other, and you should collect 1000 of stones for 1000 point of punishment. So there are will be a system of punishment, and you will recive harder penalty.

"Recive stones" "I've recived 5000 stones! Severe Akkilless, now I'm gonna die in this God damn pit!"

So i need to play game for be able to play game! Isn't a funny?

*there are no pets or pickaxe+3, so it's hard to mine, every 3 minutes you should walk and load truck with stones.
**As i thout, there should be not lifetime penalty, if player is stupied, drunk, depressed and do something illegal, like sleeping on a keyboard while fishing, even not pickuping a fish. He would not be banned forever. The online of the game wont rise of this.

P.S. Thanks for reasonable criticism. Sorry for my english.

I like this as well and your quest is well written...

...But

There are certain crimes where permanent jail should mean exactly that. I think we all know what I'm referring to.

(I've no idea why you're in jail, zipuil).

+1 - Interesting:
  1. jail
    • just that for minor offences limited time
    • as set by some guideline.
  2. jail + hard labour (HL)
    • - a modified 'jail' term for repeat offenders, or
    • - automatic for certain crimes (Breaking of Rules)
      • EXAMPLE:
      • CharacterX gets a week of hard labour and/or completion of a task, consisting of:
      • Bring NPC_jailer 1000 stones (rare stone do not count, toss them)
      • if 1000 stones are collected in a week you get out in 7 days,
      • if not, you get out upon delivering stone number 1000.
      • You don't do the HL you don't get out. With that; the onus is on the player to work his/her way out of jail.
      • NB: 1000 used as an example - can be "different levels" of HL as well
  3. permanent jail
ADDED THOUGHT:
While in jail all characters have Affinity: 1 Level: 0

If a player appeals jail sentence:

wins appeal: 5% reduction in HL or possible release from jail (depending on circumstances, GM/Admin mood, etc)
loses appeal: no early release but may receive HL increase and/or extra time (depending on how player reacts to loss, circumstances, GM/Admin mood, etc)

DISAGREE.

If they appeal - I'm pretty certain all will appeal - and win they are released.
If not then the "sentence is carried out as stated"

Let them scream, rant and rave all they want in jail. It won't be much different than any other jail where 90% of the inmates proclaim their innocence.

I'd prefer this method for all crimes. You judged for 5000 stones, 1 hour pass, your penalty is 4950, or you could mine them and -50 per hour - 50 per mine. You could be free faster!

And there could be skill, like "fishing" or "mining", "convict" if you mine 100000 jailstones you become "black" forever. =)

Add in that skill levels do not improve as well. It'd be punishment, not cause to build your skill levels.

I thought about that too.
But sometimes a jail sentence isn't that severe and/or you are put there "pending an investigation".
You could be free faster!
Disagree with this in any way shape or form.
