Trading

Post by Leone »

This post got me thinking:

viewtopic.php?f=4&p=110154#p110154

Scammers are amongst the lowest of ft players. Whilst we are in the midst of updates, perhaps it is the time to think again about trading.

Here is one to get us started. Keep the current system as it is. This way, players who trust each other can trade as usual.

For those trades where you don't know the other player, both parties place their item or gold in a shop / give to an npc. The items/gold then cannot be removed by the owner.

A message appears: 'are you sure you wish to proceed with the trade?' Yes / no

When - and only when- both parties click yes, the trade happens.

If one hits no or after x minutes, the trade is cancelled.

All good besides last "If one hits no or after x minutes, the trade is cancelled."
Trade should be cancelled for both of people right away after someone click X.
Becouse abuse with spamming items on trade still not fixed and when playing on the mages you can easily be killed if you accept the trade and he spamming items you can't use your spells and just see trade menu before you will be on spawn. But this is not the only problem. It also annoys spam trading letters on a spawn, this letters should not copied.

And I would like to add one more This applies to clan invitations. Now scammers use them to steal from clan buildings. How? They asked "how much time left so that I could join the clan?"If you do it they can run with this invite to your clan base, then use this invite and you cant delete them so fast that they don't had time steal anything. They will definitely have time to do it.They should't hace possible to going with invite in clan in other maps,it should disappear after crossing the map.

But scammers doesn’t interfere so much with the gameplay right now as a restriction of spawn.
This greatly complicates the gameplay for high levels.
I hope when 7 version FT will be almost ready we will be able to play fully as before.Who don't understand what i mean read this post:viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16637

@ Mr_Maks

I think you misunderstood.
Please correct me if I am wrong Leone.

If one of the traders does NOT select "yes or no" than after "x minutes" the trade is cancelled

In this case "x minutes" is symbolic of a time span.
It is something to be determined later when the code it written.
It could be 5 seconds or 30 seconds or up to a minute or more.
It is an automatic way of cancelling the trade if one player does nothing after the "Yes/No" buttons appear

Example: say it is 5 seconds:
  • LK buys a pet from Mr_Max
  • Mr_Max puts pet in the trade.
  • LK puts 2b in the trade
  • Mr_Max checks "Yes"
    LK has three options:
    • LK checks "Yes" - trade is Completed at that time
    • LK checks "No" - trade Cancelled at that time
    • LK does nothing - 5 seconds pass = trade cancelled for inactivity by LK to accept or cancel
NOTE: Hitting the "Back button" always cancels the trade instantly

You're welcome.

Yes, that's true. Either player hits back button "Trade Cancelled"

Yes, that's right LK. The 'are you sure you wish to proceed with the trade?' question is a fail safe. Otherwise, the system is much the same as currently.

Edit: if anyone thinks of a better idea, please post here. Trading has been exploited by unscrupulous players for far too long and we need a solution.

The above makes sense as far as the mechanics of one trade.

One related issue that I'm undecided on is a cap on the number of trade requests from one player. Most people have probably experienced hanging around at spawn and suddenly they have 15 trade requests from some guy begging for gold.

Positives would be pretty obvious: you don't have to open and close multiple trade screens.

Negatives: Transferring multiple items to someone would be a pain.

Good point. First time trade = just one item. Future trades = several, as long as trust

I have noticed that hitting the back button exits the trade window but the other player can keep making that screen pop back up by adding items in their trade window. Very annoying having to keep hitting back button until the other player cancels the trade.
