Should the fishing cap be raised? *POLL*

Just a poll for thoughts about raising the fishing cap. Why or why should it not be raised, and if it is raised, how should it work? Fish items up to the level of the character? Fish all items? Post your thoughts below.

Obviously not all items as certain special items need to be excluded. I know, you prerty much mean all levels of gear and other things that are currently fishable.

I do not think all levels of gear should be fishable. I would exclude 1500, 2000, and 3000 gear for sure.

I think allow at least up to 750 gear at a minimum, possibly up to 1000 gear.

I tend to agree with this, but suggest a fishing cap of level 999 and not 1k. My concern is making the game too easy.

Discounting 1500 gear (it's still in developmental stage), there are opportunities through pvm drops, PvP drops, crafting, trading and quests to obtain higher level gear.

My other thought is about the ratio of player level : item level. I can picture a long line of level 10 ogres taking up space either side of the river at 0, 0 with their +3 fishing rods. Every few minutes, you'll see players proudly declaring:

'Nice - 1k axe'
'Just fished 2k armour'
'That's my second 3k legs this week'

...and so on. That's not helpful to the game.

So - as the poll is designed in such a way to ask for a 'yes' or 'no' answer without any clarity (don't forget that afterwards, people will automatically look at the % vote and not necessarily our comments underneath), then I'm afraid that my answer has to be a 'no'.

You are asking an avid fisherman for a comment! I will try to be objective. :D

I don't see a problem with raising the items level that can be fished as long as the current rule applies namely that you can fish items up to 20% above your level. So a level 10 can only fish up to a level 12 item and a level 625 or so can fish a 750 item. In other words you might fish what soon you will be able to personally use in the near future. HOWEVER the plusing of items already put into the game play by enhancement should not be overridden by fishing. That would mean 500 or 750 items and IF 1000 are allowed should only be +0 not plus by fishing.

An after thought. We must also consider in the East cave with skeleton keys already provides gear at many levels including plus and some quests also provide higher level items. Also fishing of certain items could undermine the crafting menu for higher level items.

I definitely agree that some ratio of only being able to fish items a bit above your level would need to stay.

Many players already have "mining dwarfs" that are low level and used to mine rocks or carbon. It is very good that these alts can't get to some of the premium materials at low levels.

Leone's comment about a line of ogres fishing is exactly what would happen without any kind of ratio on fishable items. I've put minimal effort into my ogre I keep at spawn to buy/sell items and he already fishes faster than my main character. I realize we could raise the item cap to whatever level and still keep this ratio, but in my mind it's something important to keep in mind.

If you're gona fish than if you have luck it needs to pay off. I don't know the % on dropes but just for the purpose of this post I'll say there's a 0.1% chance to fish something.

Now 0.1% is not much.. if a for example 500 item (with +) would be able to fish just add a 0 (0.001). 2000 0.0001 and 3000 0.00001.
That's low enough to make it mega if you succeed but not easy to. Mabye it's to much. Mabye removing a 0 form each is fine but still it needs to be low but better than only able to fish lvl30 wands and more.

That is why I suggested that you can state a new system if you wanted, I think that the fishing of items 20% over the player's level is fine to me, balances it a bit. Capping fishing around 750 or 1k could definitely be a lot better than the current 499.

Im YES!

I am a dwarf so I fish badly, but I like to do it while doing business and making friends

From time to time it is really nice to fish other than fish

I like the idea of raising the limit to 1k

But can I speak freely?

For me it is also very good to fish 5k equipment, indeed it will be the only way to get it, a kind of Poseidon equipment !! XD

The higher it goes, the harder it is to find equipment, expensive and rare

Any help that makes me get equipment for me is welcome. If I can have an advantage why say no?!?!

Favorable

in my opinion it should rise from 1000 to below, with very low drop rates, of 0.2% or 0.1% or even less, which can be very difficult for you. and only if you have the corresponding level
