If a player just stops playing I don't think anything should ever happen to their house. There is a possibility, no matter how remote, that they resume playing at some point.
If an account was permanently jailed, however, that could be an option. Likely too much work though, and there is no shortage of house options available(other than the walls around carbon which is just ridiculous and needs to stop already).
Thankfully we don't have all of the houses showing the owner name as it once was. There were a few places where names couldn't even be read as there were so many of them.

I hate my schoolenglish
Sometimes i CAN betzer explain in german language or i not understand all.
Sry for mistakes.

In a classroom - grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc is important.
In the real world, getting your idea across is important.
If I want a bratwurst and beer in a gausthaus and I ask:
"jkjlhdfonw f.iedrhfne sñlmd" and I get a schnitzel and coffee I know I messed up.
BUT if I got a bratwurst and beer who cares if my "grammar" was correct?
Well maybe the chuckling Kellner as he leaves my food.

The rules clearly state that selling or giving accounts to other players is forbidden. If a player is given the opportunity to sell their house, then my concern is that they may then misinterpret this to believe they are allowed to sell their account as well.
2 points:
If "TomTom" sold his house through Playstore
Comp would get the gold for the resell
The original player should be "deleted" from the game completely
IF someone creates a new character "TomTom" he starts at Map 0.0 at level (0)
There is no benefit for "TomTom" to sell his house whatsoever. Since he "QUIT" and would come back as TomTom(0) in a year if he wanted to restart. He would not have old items gold or gear
However, if like many, self included, they just quit and come back a year later to play, they still have everything.
SO:
an abandoned house is a reminder of old players that helped build the game and might comeback or
people that are in "perm jail" for cheating in some way.
a fitting tribute to both.
A lot of work for Comp and eradicating a bit of FT history which is not so good - IMHO.
i agree i have times where work and life keeps me too busy to play and would hate to come back to nothing or be forced to check in.
I don't think I have an opinion one way or another about reselling houses. But, I read the intent of the OP to be that a player could decide to sell their house/location to another player. So, a player would have to choose to sell and another player would have to choose to buy.
Selling your house to another player could be abused if done incorrectly. Sadly, thinking this way seems to ruin what could be some fun things.
Suppose Leone wanted to mine some platinum. He knows I have a house near platinum, but because I play horizontally on my phone instead of vertically he doesn't want any of my sideways-facing ingots and wants to craft them himself. I "sell" my house to him for a day or so and when he's done he "sells" it back me for whatever the original price was. Not something everyone would feel comfortable with, but it could be done with alts as well.
