Lost Internet & WiFi, still had TV though because it is a different cable.
So we phoned internet provider. They said it was because we keep unplugging and plugging in the router. SAY WHAT! Told them the only time we do that is when "they" tell us to to reset it. And heard, well that's wrong, phone and ask to have the tech department reset it. GRRRR! {insert choice words here} as we explained no one would ever pass us through to the tech department!
How is it that all these internet providers and websites can be online 24|7|365|forever or friends can have their computer online forever and here I have to phone my provider at least once a week to have it "reset"? In the '90s I ran a BBS that was online 24|7 for 2 years. So much for modern technology. Welcome to Argentina!
Water. Another sore spot. Lost water about a month ago as the valve just outside the house was leaking a lot of water onto the sidewalk. We phoned AySA, 'Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos' (Argentine Water and Sanitation) and they came a looked. Broke open a hole between their shut-off valve and the house and found the break on a pipe joint on our line. OK so it's ours to fix. Nope not their problem it was a leak beyond their shut-off valve on our line. How it happened one can only guess. Put a but ceramic flower pot in the hole and filled it with the loose dirt, rocks and broken cement from the hole so people don't break a leg and called a plumber who took a week to come to fix it. During that week another man from AySA comes, looks and says it was probably AySA that broke the line when they put the new valve in a year ago and the small leak took it's time making itself known. GREAT!
Plumber come, fixes the pipe and fills the hole with the old material and covers it cement. All good, for a week at least. Eight AM the following Saturday morning we are awaken with the sounds of someone breaking the sidewalk that out plumber had recently repaired. Two, dumber than door nails, on contact to AySA, there to repair our "hole" in the sidewalk. The did not listen when 3 of us to them to stop it was already fixed. Those two buffoons broke the pipe again. {insert screaming a blue streak here}.
Our plumber was busy so we called another that my wife's uncle recommended. They found the break which was MUCH worse now and it cost us four times as much as the first plumber to fix the line. That was a week ago, and they still have not finished cementing in the hole, they are 'suppose' to come early this evening to finish it. 18:00 now, wait and see.
- EDIT: Update: 18:58 - They are coming on Monday.
Oh and last night: no water again. And today we get a water bill with a letter. We are now a consorcio (consortium) because our water supply actually supplies 2 places, our house and the "shop" on the corner. SAY WHAT!
A month and twenty-one days ago we had new panels put on a living room wall. They didn't finish it right. It too a few phone calls to Consumer Defence to get the company to listen to us. In early June they are coming back with a supervisor to "finish" the work. Mean time all the furniture is in the middle of the room with a small path cleared so MIL can at least go and watch TV.
I'm tired, so if you've noticed a difference with LK lately maybe this will shed a light on why!
In difficult and boring situations, maybe the only thing that helps is that there is someone who has your situation, the internet is down, but she is laughing.
