Gold sink idea

Post by JIN18 »

Currently, high-level users can easily produce gold. I hunt 1b of gold for about 5 hours a day. It's 7b a week. But I don't have the right in-game content to use the gold produced at that rate. When you buy a pet, level, house, etc. from another user, the gold in-game will continue to build up as it spins and spins between users. This lowers the value of gold and causes inflation. In fact, the value of pets is steadily rising.

So I'd like to suggest a new idea. I'd like to add an event where merchants selling expensive high-end items are randomly generated, such as fixed events like maze events, Ashdown Raid, and Martek Raid in major cities (Martek, Ardecia, Silverwood) that will be the game's landmarks. Items that should be sold would like to borrow ideas from others or from developers or GMs.

I tend to look at it in terms related to real life purchases. Let's say you can buy a pet in game for 7b gold. According to your example you worked 35 hours to make that gold. Pets are in real life money $ 3 each. So in essence you worked 35 hours to earn $3. The whole economy is messed up when there is that crossover of buying real money items in game. It makes two types , one the player who can buy items on line and don't have to work at all to get in-game gold, just sell something, and two, the player who can't buy items online so have to labor hours to get something if he can find someone selling. Frankly I fall in the category I'd rather buy online and sell because I think my time is more valuable than building up virtual gold like a part time job, but being a seller, though helpful to some, puts me on the side of the oppressor! When I began playing you could buy a pet for 50% of real cost, so 1.5b for a $3 pet, then 100% to 3b for a pet, and then it has climbed higher and higher though the real money cost of pets is about the same. So ..I only sell to friends when I do sell and make it less...or give it instead... because I think it's gone beserk! I did sell pets recently to a friend for the going rate in gold but only because he insisted since his gold reserves were very large. Maybe this partly proves your point, for some gold is overflowing and others struggle along. Just some thoughts...I would approve of a more equitable system.

I play on a 9k account and sell items I obtain from hunting monsters in the shop :) I can tell you if you want, but you'll need a high-level account, mean 5k+. (Of course, the higher your level, the more you can farm, and the amount varies by class.) I can't reveal the locations or types of monsters on the public forums because I belong to a specific faction and I'm vulnerable to enemy attacks. If you're a neutral user, please private message me.

As you mentioned, the gap between rich and poor could widen further. So what about price differences based on level or occupation? Ah, that would be a difficult problem for developers.
