When I tested this on the test server, I determined that this was not a simple bug, but rather a deliberate exploit on his part. He had previously encountered the same situation with his sub-character (Xannon), a wizard. Seeing him repeatedly fall victim to this bug, I concluded he was exploiting an in-game bug and reported him.
