The sword will loose in a high lvl match. 5k mage vs 6k sword. Mage is still going to win. The dps may not be less. But the mage can outheal 10k damage per round. Where as the sword if he str dumps. Or even has a little dex to always hit is only doing 10k dam a round at most.
5k mage vs 5k sword. Mage wins. Hands down.

It will still win against ogre. The main way to beat another high lvl mage is to use a high lvl mage.
