[quote="MadMikael"]Oh, adding a "blue name effect" as well....
of course, no GM powers of any kind;
but, they can't impersonate a GM, as their chat is essentially disabled as well
Yes, in many ways, this is so evil.... but still, I think it would deter a lot of scamming

Sounds awesome. But they wouldn't be able to continue To scam. Will they?

Santa skin +1 (unless someone can make a convict skin)
Red names to match the Santa skin +1
Orange names to match a convict skin?
A red A in front of the name +1
Outlaw status +1
Allowed to use shops - yes, prices x 10 for them though
Not allowed to trade with players - shops only

If they do scam while under this punishment, then punishment lasts for a year
If they scam a third time, all accounts perm jailed

Of course, there would be some with little foresight who would try to receive this punishment.
Just like the people who ask for mute, I suspect it won't be long before they regret it.
They will, of course, beg for punishment removal after some time.
This would not be fun; no trading, no turning off chat; players harassing you everywhere you go, and killing you when you ignore them....
Also like to add, the real Santa Claus should be running around occasionally, to encourage players to harass every Santa they see.
You never know, if he might give you something

But Blitzcraigs's mention of the red A made me think of this other possibility: the introduction of
red-naming for abusers. Less funny than the blue name one, but on the other hand more immediatly recognisable and with no risks of blue names being associated with rules violation.

Blue name should not be associated with scamming accts.

Since u put it that way it doesnt sound as cool anymore, unless ur a really high level character i dont think it would be fun, but if u call him dark santa or krampus.., or, have krampus as his extremely op pet and it kills him randomly at times, but im just sayin... santa is cool and a symbol of everything good.

You both make very good points.
Associating the blue name with scammers is not a good idea; however, Santa Claus has a blue name, and I suggest it only for that reason.
Of course, the punished player cannot actually imitate a GM in any real way, so in that regard, it is ok IMO.
Associating Santa Claus himself with scammers is not really great either; as you point out, he is a symbol of good; HOWEVER, I would argue, in North America especially, he has become a symbol of greed. I only say this, as many kids anymore get quite greedy at Christmas; yes, the idea itself is all good intentions, spirit of giving and whatnot, but the reality is, most kids see it as a holiday to acquire new things. I would add, the game of FT is full of kids, and many of them are quite greedy. Just think, how much a GM gets begged for stuff in game. Santa Claus in game, is that effect on steroids, with a rocket engine and a universal adapter. Santa Claus in game is never fun.
