I think PvP protection should be for the house owner only, but this might be difficult to program (a question for @compbatant

The reason for the withdrawal of PvP protection from private houses was that there are so many houses that a) the minimap became cluttered beyond belief with white dots (which generally indicate NPC or quest points) and with so many houses giving broad PvP in general maps the maps were effectively becoming too safe.

FT isn't supposed to be a safe place...

Um, even with the withdrawal of PvP protection, the minimap is still cluttered to the point of uselessness on some maps.

But, I do agree, that some were abusing it far too much.
Really, PvP protection (if any) should only go to the home owner, and no one else.
Kinda sad that you can get attacked if you're deep in the unintuitive crafting/storage menus.
They are not quick navigations, and the storage does not auto-sort.
If you're like me, you're constantly pulling items out and putting them back as a manual sort.
And sometimes, finding stuff in the crafting menu is a pain, if you can't remember what page it was on.
They're listed here, if you're unfamiliar:

12 pages so far, and no semblance of order to them. With this set up, it will only get messier as crafting expands over time.
For that, I'd say, start with the basic materials (planks and ingots), and work up by level of items.

It's strange that I still have pvp protection at my house.

i dont think houses should have pvp protection, even for owner only. at least not when like now, anything, anywhere can be a house.
a minecart house next to iron would give the owner a olace to mine iron without the risk of being killed. same with other resources. a few lucky players with pvp protected houses next to rare resources would have a huge advantage in clan war where denying the enemy resources is a big thing.

then how about a house on your clanmap where you cant be killed. can think of a few other uses as well.

I agree, with one huge addition - when you're attacked, your screen should get a red outline or some type of notice - even just a message would be fine

AGREE 1000%.

IT SHOULD ALWAS BE CLEAR THAT YOU ARE BEING ATTACKED. NO MATTER WHAT SCREEN YOU IN.

sorry about the capitals. but i feel its warranted

I paid $50 for my house with the understanding that pvp protection was included. To change that now is not fair and may even be against the law. $50 dollars is a lot of money. If this is the way it is going to be, I may want my money back.

It is very sneaky and doesn't say much for the integrity of the creator.

I also don't believe that players that haven't purchased a house have no business speaking out about ideas for houses they have not invested $50 in.

Easy there, Ry... BlitzCraig and rearrow (and others) talking about the way things should be for the good of the game is not going to affect the PVP protection around houses ;)

As for the legality and understanding of PvP protection (even though I don't even know if that's ever specified anywhere) My advice is that you don't go there... it's not illegal to change a game; if it was changed, nobody would take legal action; if they tried, it would go nowhere because there are no legal grounds to support whatever action you'd be seeking... that kind of talk just nullifies whatever point you're trying to make

I will say, that I agree with you that changing it after so many have purchased them seems unfair (imo, the whole PvP protection around shops + houses should have been fixed years ago so that you only have the protection when actually in the shop /house menu, but that's another discussion altogether lol)
