Marshals still can kick simple members. Though, they cannot promote them to marshals.
Lords can kick simple members and marshals. They can promote simple members to marshals.

No, they can't. They are of the same rank.
But any new clan member is a "simple" member. And if he wants to be a marshal, he have to be promoted by lord/duke. He is not promoted automatically.
So, if marshal managed to catch "simple" member red-handed or suspects "simple" member to be a thief/scammer, marshal can kick him out easily.
