Re: Handicapped, why

Dwarf has a disability too. would really like freeze or stun gladly trade the speed that the lag doesn't support anyways.

Because ogre have got 25% skill, archer 30%,and swordman-40%.parkbones wrote:Again I ask,why does the swordsman need a skill that damages the users health? No other class has this handicapping. Please I am awaiting an answer, and an explanation would only be fair.
Hey,blitz!blitzcraig wrote:I was not the one who thought up or implemented that skill... but I'll do my best to answer your question:
1> the Creator wishes to use skills as one way of differentiating classes, and copying a skill from another class is counterproductive to that end.
2> With a % strike skill, if the % is higher than others with similar skills, then there must be a "downside" to using it or it is clearly an imbalance (I'm going to set aside the fact that melee characters are already at a disadvantage for now, because in the long run after that is finally leveled, this would create an unnecessary imbalance itself)
3> Many act as though the 10% renders this skill useless or as a disadvantage as compared to the archer's 30%... I would argue the exact opposite. Here's my logic on this: If you are using this skill, it is because you are fighting an enemy with very high HP (otherwise a different skill would be more helpful) ... so let's make an example here -- swordsman and archer both have 15,000 HP and 270 STR. They are fighting a red cyclops with 30,000 HP.
archer 30% attack reduces cyclops by 9,000, leaving archer with 15,000 and cyclops with 21,000.
swordsman 40%/10% reduces cyclops by 12,000, leaving sword with 13,500 and cyclops with 18,000.
if working with other players, then sword gets much more xp from the killed cyclops
if working alone, then sword is much better off than archer because he has done an extra 15 hits worth of damage, while taking only 2 hits worth from cyclops
in 1-on-1 PvP, if they were to hit each other with these skills, the archer would have 9,000 HP left and the swordsman would have 9,000 HP left (unless he hit second, in which case he would actually have a little more)
(yes, changing numbers and such will change these of course, but my point is that in many, many situations, the 40/10 is actually a better skill)
