Re: Newbie Gamer Intro.
ELGER HERE. FILLING IN AS WRITER UNTIL THE EDITOR AND CREATOR RETURNS TO HIS Typewriter.
The day is done, and the darkness falls from the wings of night
As a feather is wafter downward
From an eagle in his flight
I see the lights of the village
Gleam through the rain and the mist
And a feeling of sadness comes oe'r me
That my soul can not resist
A feeling of sadness and longing
That is not akin to pain
And resembles sorry only
As the mist resembles the rain
Come read to me some poem
Whose songs gushed from his heart
As showers from the clouds of summer
Or tears from the eyelids start
[Part of a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow called The Day Is Done] I hope you enjoyed it. I did.

Dawn is breaking,
The sun is chasing
The stars are racing
Towards the night
There's dew on the grass
And the night is passing
From the light
The darkness must fade
Ere the day is laid out
The sun is shing on me now

Re: Newbie Gamer Intro.
Actually, it has been bothering me lately that I have not continued with the Trials and Tribulations of LostKnight. And Now that I'm not a 100% newbie - although I still consider myself one in many respects, I wonder if I can change the name of the thread: The Trials and Tribulations of LostKnight. Most of the forums I'm on the person who wrote the OP can do so by editing that post. The forum software keeps everything up to date automatically.MadMagus wrote: Wed Jun 20, 2018 5:48 am Post here more often please, this was the best thread going at one time...
What happened to the daily log? Slowing down in your higher levels?
Ok, sure, I get it - the grind increases and gets more boring... but I know you do more than just grind.
...sigh
well, maybe I'll give it a read from page 1 again soon... it's a good thread
So post more often please....
Anything for my friend. How about beef on the bone for the Lion

It's not been for a lack of interest, trust me, it's been that I am so busy in the game and a couple of RL things have taken me away at times as well.
The push from 250 to 300 seemed to take forever, seemed like the push to see if I could get to the now famous "Level 80", well famous for me anyway. A milestone etched in "stone" for me that "80" was. I still remember thinking "Can people really get that high"

Then came "300" - no no, not the Spartans, the FT 300! And The Twins, Staff Stans, that had been with me since level 136 morphed into The Spooks, Ghost Archers. The Spooks truly are amazing family members¹. I can't say they are best for that level, BUT they are MY recommendation after the Staff Stans. Ranged and capable of killing Red Monsters was a HUGE PLUS!. I tested - they got a dozen in a row once. But, more important, it is better to park them in a safe area and tank for them. Levels came faster once I took them into the Castle, by the Pet Shop, or as one gamer calls it "The Hole".
The Spooks were short lived though, a mere 80 levels←,l there's that magic 80 again, because at 380 they morphed yet again. This time into the RCAF². Now grinding became, and still is, like an express elevator to the top floor of Place Ville Marie! Going up leaves your stomach in your shoes.
380 to 500 left me a bit dizzy .. but here's where things slow down a bit. No no, not because I can't get levels, but because I need to craft and sell to pay my way through quests. So I have been doing a lot of that lately. And have myself at a comfortable gold level as of yesterday. Levels take me around an hour in the first sub-basement of The Hole. So if I was to spend all day, every day, in there for a couple of weeks .... YEEEEEHAAAAWWWWW. But as we all know, FT isn't about getting levels only. There is the 'social part'; working with friends to help each other, helping new gamers
Now starts mining for Mith Tools. Read the forums; Hobbs Gold Mine = Blood Worms - instant death for people my level, and how they broke 8 - 10 or more Mith tools getting into something called "Special Area" or "Special Rooms" So I have time between now and being able to take on Blood Worms to make "my" Mith tools.
And I think of all those Mith tool sets I made and gave away with the "Made by LK" stamp on them. Don't get me wrong folks, knowing I need "my" mith tools, I have still made and given away Mith Tools. Why ... because it's an LK thing that I have been doing almost since I could make them, and the simple fact that I'm going to need a bunch for HGM isn't going to change that. Sure "giving" part will slow down, but when I can do what I need to do in Hobbs Gold Mine, any left over mith tools I have I will give away. I notice the price has gone up too. S&D=G³ as I call it. I'll still give them away, to younger (levels = age) players to get them started.
Still helping new players. Day before yesterday I started helping one new guy, and after showing him some stuff wanted to friend me. I'm careful with that now, too many have I accepted only to receive a /msg "Can you give me 1m gold?" one guy wasn't shy at all asked for 1.5b. Yea right: Friend List [X]. But mostly if I find them to be appreciative of the help, the tips etc I leave them with some gear and a little gold to gold to start. Once I got a "WOW! OMG! 500K! Thank You!" Now that would make anyone's day. Well, maybe not, not all are into helping new players. Some are too busy killing them
So mining, crafting, grinding and helping is still on LostKnights agenda and now I'll re-add "don't forget to post".

I might add that the "OOPSIES" are the seasoning that make the thread interesting!LostKnight wrote: Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:13 pm Title changed as of this date to: The Trials and Tribulations of LostKnight

Always a pleasure to give something back as well, so just ask. It's never an issue to pick up a thing or 20, or to see if a supply caravan is traveling through Rockheim!

Rockheim is my house, Gullander's house is Gladsheim Currently the only two people to live here in Steinheim FT.
Yes, and I keep "my" stables just at the end of the path full of fresh horses for you too!

To all those concerned: Yes yes, I know ... but for the sake of 'this thread' and 'The Village of Steinheim' the stables are the property of LostKnight. I collect 5% of it's revenue, the rest goes to pay the blacksmith, buy metal for horseshoes, feed for the animals and the general maintenance of the stables themselves. In fact, burned into the wood over the doors:

Steinheim...I like it. You live sandwiched between the constant threat of attack from the bandit tower to the south and the disgruntled villagers of Kedington who see you as encroaching on their territory. In fact, the shop keeper has put up his prices.
You've a lot of convincing to do to talk them round.

It has not worked so far as the Kedington villagers have taken to forming an insect defense system as well. I'm from Ardesia, but word of the Kedington H.I.V.E.S. (Heroic Insect Vanguard Engagement System) has even reached me.Leone wrote: Thu Jun 21, 2018 8:23 am Steinheim...I like it. LK, I'll stand with you! (Or, you know, park my pets nearby while I mine reds and greens from your house...)

I feel your pain. At Ashdown we get daily pirate attacks. We don't have any village guards, so rely on the goodwill of visitors to fend them off whilst us residents are away adventuring.

Leone & SellSword.
With regards to the Kedington shop it's lies I tell you ... ALL LIES! The shop was selling high and buying low before I moved into the area. And then my good neighbour, Gullander, moved in and we decided to name our little community Steinheim. Not our problem that they refused to build in the rocky area. Also, we are stopping the swarms of bandit killers to the south from reaching Kedington. Their day of killing young people checking things out in the shops have come to an end.
And Blitzcraig's H.I.V.E.S. have been there for a millennium. The bees have gone rogue, attacking passersby and people buying in the shops with all they can. Bet you didn't hear that down in the big city did you. Gullander and I are doing our best keeping them at bay but the Queen's are well protected in their respective hives constantly creating a new younger stronger army, more vicious and deadly.
It's so sad that the villagers of Kedington see us as a threat. We of Steinheim are no threat, both Gullander and I do what we can for the shoppers, stopping the swarms of bandits from the south and protecting them from the H.I.V.E.S. rogue bees.
