I put shops and a windmil on map, but they seem to disappear when i reopen map

You load only map file without level file. Open map using its name or load ".level" file which loads also ".map" file.

"Tileset" files open but "level"
Files do not... using windows 8, do i need some other type of software?

I think its because the editor is using western European windows and I'm using American version it might not be totally compatible?

Definetly no

editor is not "using any Windows". I dont have even Windows.

There are two different ways to open your map. One never works for me...have you tried them both?
