I guess it just seems to me that if i bought a car that the dealer couldn't make changes to the car after i purchased it. They couldn't come take the tires from my car after I purchased it. That's my logic.

Yeah, I get what you're saying - and Compbatant has always done a really good job trying to respect the integrity of players purchases (much more so than most developers in my experience) but at the same time, a purchase of this nature does not hold up the same way... Games are always changing... if I had bought my house on the very top-left map, it wouldn't restrict the dev from adding more maps above and left of that - or changing crafting options, or storage options, or my name being displayed etc... Anyway, I'm not disagreeing about how he should respect our purchases, just saying it makes a stronger case if you explain why it's good or bad for the players or the game rather than going down the road or legality - I know that even as a GM I used to hear that so much that I almost immediately quit really paying attention - I imagine he's even quicker to dismiss it ;)

i get what your saying as well. i bought my second house where it is because i read in forum it had pvp protection.

i was quiet mad when told it was only older houses and think it should be very clear in forum that that is the case.
remove old posts or edit first post to reflect reality.
not doing so is misleading especially with real money involved.

Yes, the forum description should definitely accurately describe the purchase. Where's the post about PvP protection? I'm sure GMs will fix it when this is all sorted

Yes I agree with you both. I think in some sort of weird distorted way I felt that that house was mine. :D I understand that there will be changes in the game whether I want them or agree with them or not. I do remember reading that PvP protection was included with a house purchase. I'll have to hunt that post down when I have time. I'm at work at the moment.

I still don't think it's right to use pvp protection as a selling point and then change that later on.

Just a thought - mainly to Ry but it relates to this thread as well. Ry - your house (and my own house as well) happens to be fairly close to a shop. Your house is an old rather than new property (how do we distinguish between the two, btw?) but I wonder if the pvp protection is from the shop or the house itself?

The next step to test this is to see how far the shop protection radius extends.

Corrupter and I tested this already. The screenshot is in this thread. Also, Corr tested his first house which is not anywhere near a shop and it also offers PvP protection where his newer one does not.

I did a forum search for this.
I can't find anywhere that this is said by a staff member, or compbatant himself.
The only person I can find that actually says it is - you Ryaca.

This just goes to an age old point that I've made time and again.
Don't believe every rumour you hear in the game.

If you ask me, the PvP protection initially offered by houses sounds like a bug - one that was fixed, due to massive abuse.
So, point your fingers at the clowns who tend to ruin everything in the game.
PvP protection zones near shops etc. was changed some time ago.
Like take the wagon map for instance - the range was increased in a way I think is dumb.
It extends well across the bridge, way too far IMO.
But whatever. It was changed, and changes happen.
Same goes for towns. The range was increased in some places, and decreased in others.
The idea that the church would offer some protection makes logical sense to me.
The highlander reference was fun too.

This game is going on 5 years old now.
In that time, it has changed a lot.
With each change, many players have claimed how it has "ruined the game".
This even includes the addition of diagonal walking. Still can't figure that one out.
These players have also said things like "I'll never play again", "I wish I never spent money", etc.
Some of them actually meant it. Most did not.
But, I don't think a single refund was ever given for this reason.
There are rules (and laws) that cover it. Don't believe me, try reading the Google Play TOS sometime.
If you make an uneducated purchase, or a purchase on assumption, that's really your fault.
The world is a big, greedy unfair place. The fact that FT offers refunds at all is actually a sign of respect.
I honestly can't think of anywhere that actually has a law that says you have to get refunds if unsatisfied.
I may be wrong, but oh well.
There are companies that offer it, sure, but that's an in-house policy sort of thing. They don't have to do it.
But, I really don't see where that is officially posted anywhere.

As for anyone who is angry about their house not having PvP protection - I'll tell you the same that was told to players who bought houses on an event map.
If you don't like it, you can try and contact compbatant and see if he's willing to move your house for you.
I suggest you be polite in your requests. Just common courtesy, as he really doesn't have to.
But, I don't think a single one of you should be entitled to a single refund, period.
Not only is that covered by Google Play itself, Game Rule #5 is expressly written for that.
If you don't qualify under rule 5, then all you can do is ask compbatant nicely.
If you're rude about it, you shouldn't even get a response.

I believe that there was a post that said this at one time and was removed later on but it isn't important to me anymore.

I would like to go off topic for a minute and I feel it is appropriate due to a post that I made on this very thread.

I know that I tend to run off at the mouth at times. Anyone that has read my posts would probably agree with me.

I just would like to state for anyone reading this to see. I believe Compbatant takes a lot of flack from players (myself included) and I believe he has some very thick skin. I hope that he does not take anything personal from my rants and tirades.

Furthermore, I appreciate everything that Compbatant does for FT and I hope that he continues to make this game great (whether I like the changes or not).

I once read a response by Compbatant after players were really giving him a hard time and is the best response I have ever read. Period.

It goes like this: "Tell me the magic solution that makes every player happy and I will do it."

Well said Compbatant.
