I talked to the mage by ogre dungeon and he spoke about weisstein and all that but it didn't give me the quest in my quest book

I have made it to the weisstein map and it won't let me talk to the hermit....he is one the right side of doors but he has no bubble above his head

check the quest manual. you need a lot of quests before you can talk to the hermit. for example, the cook quest.
