Fishing question

Does it increase my chances at fishing better items if I keep the fish I catch in my pack or can I discard them?

having fish in backpack has no influence on chance to catch an item whatsoever. drop'em, sell'em, throw in somebody's face (if you're an ogre)...

Lol OK. Does anyone know what the percentage chance for fishing an item is?
