Archer in pyramid

Is this a quest or just a pet? If it's a pet, can I buy as many times as I want? Can I have two pet's plus archer?

The archer is a pet he only has 1000 hp and dies easy.

Addition: It can only be hired once per character.
But it works like a pet. If you already have 2 pets, there should be no way to hire that archer.

once before I had a wolf,an Amazon, and the yellow archer. this gave me 5 pages on my character. the archer died only moments after and I could not purchase him again with 2 pets.

as is said above, it is a one-time follower. once it dies or is dismissed, he can not be recruited again, no matter the number of followers.
