Other: I don't think I've missed any steps or prerequisite quests.

Check quest manual to see if there is a lvl requirement.

I'm level 75. Quest is in my log and i have the items necessary to finish the quest in inventory.

I think I got it: you don't have an iron plate, you have a "better iron plate". This item is similar to iron plate, but it has a shiny dot, enhanced stats and, most important, a different ID item number. You need a normal iron plate to complete the quest

This is 100% the problem. Spot on ardesia. I helped a lv 2k wand be crafted and the 750 wand used as an ingredient was a +1 so we were stumped as why it didn't work. A regular 750 wand was then tryed and boom 2k wand. quest can distinguish items by their id number +1 and +2 items have a different id im sure
