Don't know if anyone has ever had this idea...

An item could be attached to an offline message. Just like we could give players messages that are offline we could also give an item or maybe even sell it.
For example message might read... "Hey George I found that 150 gold plate you needed" or "Hey George I have a 150 gold plate for sale"
This would only work with friends or clan members. All of us have different time zones but in a clan we still like to help out each other. I feel this way help that process ty ^_^

Sort of like a gifting system.. Claim when its convenient.

Have a secondary option for friends and clan members, that opens up a trade window as normal. Set a desired price.

A little gift icon appears on the recipients screen when he next logs on. Possibly below the letter icon if he receives that too.

When pressed, the trade window opens with the item, name of player making the offer, and the desired price, and the goods are transferred if accepted.

It sounds like you want to combine the trade and messaging windows though. That might be a little tricky.
Here's a few options.
•One might super impose itself over the other.. (And a player may get confused thinking someone was offering a trade during his/her perusal of a sent message.
• A new window that combines the two types of windows would have to be created.
•The mail could have an acceptance link to the item that opens the trade window, after the letter is read.

I think its best to keep things simple to be incorporated faster. And then tweaked later.
In favor of that. I think a simple trade function added to the friends/clan interface, separate from the messaging function would suffice.
(After all, a friend/clan member doesn't need to tell you that he/she was paying attention, when the item itself is proof that he/she was.) ;)

Yep - the desired price could be as low as 0 gp so it could quite literally be a gift. Great ideas.
