A weapon for life

Hello
after playing FT a lot, i tought about warriors and the fact in history and licterature many of them had a personal weapon, sometimes they named it, and the weapon become famous as their owner.
Maybe at lower level is not possible because weapons give power and consequently a way to grow up, but after long playing , when for example the skin of a character distinguish him/her in game,
could be nice that also his weapon can become 'legendary' for real.
this means that the weapon should grow up with the owner, that choose for example to level the weapon instead of himself, could give it a unique name and so on, like in legends.
do u think could be an idea that give more pleasure in playing / leveling ? :)

That could work. Weapon damage is x, where x = player lvl.

It would have to be bound to the player, could not be dropped or stored (it can be unequipped/swapped out), cannot be lost in PvP, etc.

The problem is that this idea would render all other weapons redundant. I'm approaching lvl500 and I'm looking forward to using the 500 bow. I couldn't care less about a 500 bow if my current bow lvls with me.

Unless...

...the 'legendary' weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses. For example, the damage may well increase with player lvl, but there are no other bonuses (eg: dex/arm).

Edit: just reread your post OP and you do make reference to this by saying the legendary weapons status should occur when players are granted their own skin ( lvl 1500, I believe).

This changes my view to a certain extent although I do take some exception to your comment about the weapon being a reward for long playing. To be diplomatic about it, not all players who are lvl1500+ have been playing ft for very long at all. They just happen to have more disposable income than others.

My view of the phrase 'long playing' is that it should be measured by time spent and not money spent.

what i suggested, but probably i wasn t able to explain, is a weapon that has his own life, like the legend of the thor's hammer where the hammer was a semi-god itself,
so , when player got a level, can decide if put the points on himself or on his weapon, increasing its stats.
the more, i think that as in real stories , weapon can be lost in a fight and must be reconquered, but with the condition that who win it cannot sell, only try to use it
(i m not suggesting a one-way improvement, also the possibility to loose it must be considered)

i didn t mean to connect own weapon to high level only, i talked about special skin to give an example and never mentioned money :)
anyway something that is 'legendary' should be connected to somebody that has a bit of fame as good player (so level or time spent makes sense);
basic weapon level connected to player's level is correct because otherwise an high lvl must start level of weapon from the lvl 0 and this u understand
would be not appreciated ...

mine is one idea to give a player a sort of 'neverending quest' , and follow the human desire to become legendary playing a game like this,
if or how this suggestion will be developed we cannot predict, is just an idea to keep game alive (after Omega Vanitas started, i m a bit worried about FT future, and i m not the only one)
:)

I'm currently working on something different for FT, but afterwards I have considered working up something similar to this - it wouldn't level up instead of your character (since that would require a mechanics change) but through following daily quests, your weapon could continue to grow with you. This would require play time rather than $$ which I think is good ;) - happy to beat any ideas on how exactly it could work (I was toying sorry calling them "living weapons" but am open to suggestions (not that I'm even 100% sure I'll be doing it at all, but fun to talk about either way lol)

I do think the idea has potential but wonder how existing weapons would work. As I mentioned earlier, would they not become redundant?

Would the game mechanics allow custom modification of existing weapons, Blitz? I know it's not your original idea, hungry wolf , but it's just a thought. Plus I share your concerns about the ov/ft split, so all ideas should be put on the table for discussion. This forum is a big part of the FT community and our opinions help keep the game thriving.
