Day and night

Post by Ryaca »

I am not sure if this has been suggested before but would it be too difficult to add nighttime to the game? I think it would be very interesting to see players pvping under a sky of darkness. Perhaps in the full moonlight. We could even see bases burning in the night sky...

It has been suggested before on more than one occasion. Here is an example: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3642&p=27246&hilit=Night#p27246

Having said that, a good idea is still a good idea:)

I also suggested it before
But adding light and torch will make game heavy and more laggy
But it's possible

I definitely do not want to add lag to the game so maybe a bad idea.

The issue also lies in deciding what time to base "night time" on. We have players from around the world.

FT time would be most logical.
But I don't really like the idea.
Either, you need a lighting system, which would slow the game.
Or, at least a second variation for every tile and element, to differ from day and night.

Both options would slow the game, and increase its size.
compbatant has stated he does not wish to do either of these, and most players I think would agree.
Not everyone has a great device, y'know.
So, unless maybe made like an optional extension, like the soundtrack, it will likely not happen.

Personally though, I don't see too much benefit to time and day cycle.
In most games, it's just for show anyway.

I have a $40 dollar Walmart phone and it's not a high end device so I agree with you. This probably is not a good idea. My phone works well for FT and I do not want that to change.

I agree. Unless it has some functional benefit, then no reason to include!
