I don't know... at level 550, I don't mind fishing

I can't do anything with fishing.
To me, I see it as a "mini game".. and as such, not a top priority on what needs work.
Most complaints about fishing are directly related to the nerf - yeah, well nerfs always suck.
But those higher level items should never have been there in the first place.

Maybe, one day, fishing will have new things added - personally, I'd like the cooking skill for the fish - soooo many fish, and completely useless to all except ogres... and that occupies them with fishing for what... 30 seconds?

Almost all the recent content updates have been geared towards players 500 and up.
Fishing is aimed currently aimed at 500 and below.
IMO it is more important to add content for 500 and below, rather than tweak fishing for 500 and up.
But I digress...

Everyone is a different level. We all have different wants.
Trying to do something for everyone is nigh impossible... but there is something in the works.
Not just the GMs either... I'm hearing rumours, there's another project going on.
Only time will reveal the secrets.

Just. Be. Patient.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
This game has taken over 4 years to get to this point... and it has not always been a fun road to travel.
TBH, I wish that some could try "old versions" of the game, to see what it was like at one time.
Try a version before diagonal walking was added - when you see how much is actually missing from this current version, fishing becomes such a minor thing.
We only have one programmer.. if things are really too slow for you to bear, take the time to go learn how to code. Once you're good enough at it, you can offer compbatant some help on a strictly unpaid volunteer basis. Then, maybe things will go a little faster...

I sometimes find that buddying up with a brand new player and helping them get to point where they feel relatively confident can be rewarding.

It's a win/win as they usually appreciate the help, particularly if it is sustained for a while, nd are more likely to help lower lvl players themselves.

Mad I agree with you. Most players (myself included) just want to complain and not contribute any kind of solution or take an interest in at least learning how they can help the game. If I put myself in your shoes as a GM, I would find this very frustrating. I do want to offer suggestions and solutions when I can but as far as learning how to code or anything like that, I just don't want to do that. I have plenty of free time but the truth is is that I am lazy. That is not what I am here for and that is ok.

I also agree with you on the fishing nerf. We should have NEVER been able to fish 1k, 1500, or 2k items. That was just ridiculous. I do however believe that the Nerf was taken to far. I would have been thought it sensible to be able to fish items level 999 and below. I believe that when changes are made sometimes ppl just take the ball and run to the far extreme with no one to stop them or hold them accountable. They may believe in their heart that the decision is absolutely right and no one is going to tell them different. I understand this.

I also agree with you that this game caters to lower levels. And it should. Many players are new to the game and that should be the focus. I couldn't agree with you any more on this. I will say however that I believe in the GM think tank that everyone involved thinks that players levels 500 and under make up 95% of the game. Although this may or may not be true, I have about 20 alts that I never play. I know many others who also have several alts that they don't play either. Several high level players I know have many alts that they may or may not play. There have been several new players that I have friended so that I can help them only to have them tell me at level 10 or so that this game is not for them and then I never see them again. But their account is still in the FT database forever. Much like these forums that say we have thousands of members but I really only see a handful actually use the forums. I'm only mentioning this because I hope that these many alts mentioned are not factored in with current statistics. Also, I don't believe any GM has a non GM high level character that they play regularly and this could lead to lack of accurate information or just not being exposed to many situations that players like myself are exposed to often. Almost like they are in the dark in some discussions which may make them naive in certain areas of the game or discussions about changes. In addition to this, with pets being added that are very powerful, it is the norm for players to level much faster than they used to be able to. So although players level 500 and above may very well be the minority, I believe that the game is shifting and over time although high level players may be the minority, I believe that eventually they will become the norm. Maybe still a minority but not as much as they may be now. I see high level players everywhere I go and don't see 95% of all players that I see being low levels. Maybe I'm going to the wrong places.

That being said, There is much information that I am not privy to as a regular player. My post here is based on speculation and my perception as a player only(one sided as it is). I believe that GM's have a lot more knowledge about what is going on in the FT would than any player. Furthermore, I believe GM's and admin discuss things at length before just rashly making changes in the game. I also believe that we will see new players join the ranks of FT everyday and that is a good thing. In closing, I believe that the focus should be aimed at the newer players so they can be nurtured and enjoy this great world we all love and maybe they can return the favor someday.

Off topic on an off topic post lol
Ryaca makes some great points - too many to address.
Let's just say, with GM work, there are some "smoke and mirrors" involved.

As for ideas on boredom, I agree with Leone.
However, I'm only 550, not 1100+....
(I could get access to higher chars, I simply don't want to).

So for that level, I really can't say.
If you've done all the quests, idk.
If you haven't - grind until you can.

The usual... grind, farm for items, build up gold, do clan stuff, make a new alt..
If you can come up with sort of challenges for yourself, like kill x amount of mobs without dying, playing with your stats to try new tactics, etc.

Leave it to the ghost to make off topic really off topic. Halloween must be on the air as my head always starts getting fuzzy.
