It's great that the current reward for finishing a mercenary quest (map 4.1 island) is always a level advancement. However, might I suggest additional rewards? An appropriate amount of gold or piece of gear (based on class and level) as well. The type of reward (level, gold, gear) could be set by the RNG.

If RNG = level : receive enough XP to advance one level (same as now)

If RNG = gold : receive gold equal to 15% of XP from killing required monsters
so, if need to kill 230 Ghost Archers: 230 x (700,000 XP per archer) x 15% = 24,150,000 gold

If RNG = gear : receive a random piece of gear with level equal to or less than player level (but not necessarily designed for that class)
so, a level 750 archer could receive a 750 bow, a 500 bow, or even a 100 staff (just examples)

I got a 200+2 arm couple days ago when I finished a Merc quest. Pure chance i know.

I got enough xp for a level AND a 200+1 axe (anyone want to buy?) from my last quest. I had to pay dues also, so not sure if that is connected or not for that one.

@Leone, @SellSword - about how many quests have you completed? Maybe after a certain # the rewards change

Five maybe? I just finished ghost archers, got my reward, and then had to pay my dues (pretty sure that is to continue, bit next quest wasn't available yet). I could be missing one in my count. I'm sure not high on the list as I'm a slow player and it usually takes me two days to get through.

i had gear rewards on top of the lvl 3times.

one lv500glove, 1lv500 sword+1 and one lv500gauntlet.
i was between lv1350 and 1425. had to pay dues 2times now.

Ghost Archers is the last "free" mercenary quest. I have better uses for that much gold...at least for now!

You paid 1b for a "Mercenary Quest" on Fortress Aetor and got nothing!
