Trading - a bit of a rethink

When trading, the seller taps the item to be sold and types the sale price, for example: 1000000 gold.

The buyer then types 1000000 and taps the item. The gold and item are exchanged.

If there is any discrepancy, for example if the buyer misses a zero OR types an extra zero then the trade is cancelled.

Items can be gifted in this sytem by setting the price to 0.

Multiple items:

An example: the buyer wishes to buy 10 items for 1000 gold.

The seller taps an item and sets the price to 100 gold. He then taps 9 other items in his inventory. The price increases by 100 gold with every item he taps.

Of course, I'm not sure if all this is possible programming-wise. Let's discuss and amend to try and get it to as near perfect as possible.

Good idea, that would reduce scammers!

I've just edited for multiple items.

sounds good but when to people put in $ amounts they are both giving that amount in to the other person.

Ah yes i see what you mean.

Sorry I mean the seller sets the price and the buyer matches or not. The seller will not spend gold.

Then that would mean a "rewrite" because if the seller puts in 1000 and the buyer puts in 1000 they cancel each other out.

How would it work if two people are "trading items" ?

The seller would not be putting in gold but just naming the price, so no canceling each other out.

The "drawback" to this is that it's essentially the same as the old system, isn't it? If I sell an item and put 1000 gold as the price the other side would either be making the trade by putting in the right amount of gold, or stopping the trade by putting in the wrong amount of gold. That's almost the same as if was before, right?

Multiple items would be different, of course.

Items traded for items would be an issue too... I'm not sure how you get around that under this system.

Yep agreed. A flaw.

First thought that's maybe cumbersome. The trade is the items along with 0 gold. Idk there's maybe a better way.

I think that the big difference is that the seller types the cost first and so is in control of the trade. I'm hoping that's the difference...

...but I might be wrong

In all honesty, the biggest issue with the current system is players continuing to force trade window after a player declines. The second biggest is player inattention. Always look twice (or even 3 times) before accepting a trade. As much as we all hate it, scammers will always be around. Banning them is like chopping hydra heads. Remove 1 and 2 replace it.
