HP bar not showing accurate %

Not sure if bug. But my hp bar is showing the same percentage at 5,000hp as it would at 35,000hp
Killed by a cave giant assuming I still had enough life left.
Tested again by suiciding by a ball.
At death, the hp bar goes to the same length. (For me, around 35,000 hp)
HP seen in backpack with bar near the same length.
Shouldnt the hp bar drop lower yet again around the 9000 hp mark?
Btw. "Bug" was about 2 hours before this post
