New and wanted to be a healer

Hi all!
Just found out about this game yesterday and seems great and challenging!!!

Wanted to play a healer so I created a white mage, but I am dying all the time ... :(

Then made a swordman and the game is much easier that way.

Any advices?
What is the healer class?
Anywhere in game where I could team up with some welcoming players ?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the rambling, very new and trying to learn :)

The healer class is actually a mage and you will find different offensive spells as well as defensive.

I think it's fair to say they are weak at first, but with time and levelling become the strongest all-around class.

There are many experienced players who have reached very high levels for the mage on this forum. They are better placed than me to advise how to level them (I don't play a mage).

One thing I have heard is that you could play mage similar to an archer in the early levels. You'd still have some weak spells if you don't put much in mana, but focus more on damage to start.

I can't say I have much experience as a mage though.

Agree with SellSword, it was BlitzCraig that told me low level mage/fairies should play like archers and level that way. Be careful though, they are weaker than archers but still it does work.

I have made a few mage accounts over the years, and this is my advice:
The best defense is a good offense. All points to mana until level 50. After that, start adding dex to allow for the monsters you grind. Mana potions only restore mana that comes from added MANA points, not from the gear you equip. Also, spell damage and healing is calculated by MANA points added, not from gear mana. Mana points from gear only add to the available mana you have to cast spells.
Hope this helps, and welcome to FT.

Unfortunately here on the forums, most will give you advice which is good but you may not find someone that will actually log in and play with you.

It's because of the vast level difference doesn't make it beneficial to play high levels with lower levels and the fact that many who play don't have the patience to show a new player around and in game chat doesn't allow for long conversations.

Some more advice. There is a very useful tutorial that you can play ingame and you will gain a decent amount of levels whilst learning about FT.

Go back to the start map 0, 0 to the woodcutter and go left and up. By the river, you will see kulgan and his apprentice next to a camp fire. They will have a ? above their head. Click on one to start the quest.

Good luck!
