Killing monsters quests

I see when you get that quests, you need to kill some monsters,
but for example, in my case
I need to kill bats, but I just need to kill "bat", I mean, if it appears a variant of the bat, " evil bat" and I kill it, It doesn't count as a bat.
Could you make that variant of the monsters to kill count for that quests.
Because it makes more longer to complete that quests

Thank you and good luck :)

I completely agree with you on this. Those mob variants should count and drop items as well.

The problem with this idea is that those variant monsters are, in fact, completely different monsters, with their own id and (in some cases) drop table.
The monster hunting count mechanic isn't currently coded to allow substitutions.
Hmmm...

Then they should at least increase the drop rates since the variant mobs make the 1/1000 not true.

Or take the variant mobs away all together.

Nice xp tho.

Just give enhanced monster a same or lesser chance drop and we're all happy.

For other quests for example to help villagers overrun by dragons you must bring planks, and steel ingots and fire bows to complete. Three distinct item # to complete it. So you must have thus and thus and thus to do it. What is the difference then in having bats and evil bats with different numbers fulfilling a quest? Back in the old basic days you could do if/and/or in games certainly we are way beyond that!

I actually like this substitution idea, in general. I'll look into things and ask comp if a small coding change is possible. If so, we'll have to work on reworking killcount quests (those already in progress will have to be completed, of course).
I look forward to the challenge.

not sure how aware people are, but you can kill 1000 mobs and not get one drop.. the drop rate isnt exactly that accurate... each mob you kill has a 1 in a 1000 chance of a drop, repeating for each mob. they dont stack.
maybe we need loaded dice ? lol
