Is there a comprehensive list of where you can mine the various types of ore and what level you need to be to get into each area?

Neither of those includes adamantium and petrified planks which can be mined under king's garden. I think 700+ there.

As far as levels go...

Iron, carbon, gold, and diamond can be mined at early levels without much issue.

Mithril can be most safely mined at level 75 under Silverwood. You could actually do this earlier down the stairs on map 2, -3 but there are worms to get through.

Platinum, rubies, and emeralds can be mined at level 500 in HGM, but easier said than done. There is a separate 500 spot for emeralds, 600 spot for platinum, and 600(?) spot for rubies too.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I was hoping mithril could be safely mined at a lower level, but oh, well.

To get to the Mitrill under silverwood you will attract some Red Monster.
Not very strong but certainly a difficult monster for a level 75.

During the mine you will not attract anyone so you can mine safely.

Leave your PET at the entrance. don't take them to the mine.
