Village Elder Robe Quest

I see this in the updated quest list in the forum:

Quest: 1987/1988/1998/1999 – Return Robe – Normal and Thief
Location: Map 1, -2 – Ice Cave
Needed Level: 250 – Due to location
Needed Quest: 1986/1997
Quest Log: Find the thief and return the Robe of Souls to the Underground Village elder. **OR**
Quest Log: Find the thief and return the Robe of Souls to the Underground Village elder. (over level 700)

Following the quest ids back, does this mean if you're the thief, you can't return the robe until level 700?

My guess is a typo. I can't possibly imagine the lazy bum who put that together got it all right...

I believe it's supposed to be a level 250 chaotic robe or a level 500 robe of souls depending on your level when you get the quest. Lower level players (250-699) get the easier quest, of course.

There is a similar mechanic with the lighthouse where the higher your level the more stings you have to return.

Oh ok. That makes some sense. My friend just can't find the villagers before the thieves, I think. Thanks.

Tell him he's better off not taking the treasure from the mage's house too. Get to use the portal and requirements for later quests are less.

If he's looking for the people that the chief thinks stole things they are not around that area. Take the top right door on that map and when you get to that confusing map with the 16 different rooms try to make your way to the bottom left and use the stairs there.

Thanks for the advice. He's already in that "thief" boat, though. :) I think he's supposed to be talking to villagers to find out who the robe thief was. Tight lipped bunch. I'll tell him to try near the store there again. Thanks.
