Proposed Skills Changes

I'd like to propose some Skills Changes for discussion:

1. Thrown items can also be used vs monsters. This would let any class freeze/slow monsters.

2. Make the in game "ice arrow" that's unused work like a thrown item for archers (freezing players or monsters with the addition of suggestion #1).

3. Replace the archer Freeze skill with a lightning arrow skill. Upon doing damage with an arrow, there's a 50% chance for it to "arc" some lightning to a nearby enemy (within range 3 and chosen at random). If it does leap, it will do 50% of the damage from the initial hit. Leaps will also have a 50% chance to leap again, with a similar reduction in damage each time. So, if the archer has a strength of 1000, and the enemy has armor of 400, the archer will do 600 damage (unless it's a critical hit), a first leap would do 300 damage, a second leap 150 damage, etc.

4. Replace the sword freeze skill with a "Broad Stroke" skill. Attacks would become wide, arcing swings, hitting enemies within +/- 90 degrees of the front of the player using the skill. So, it would be somewhat similar to the dwarf "Fury" skill, but not hitting enemies behind the sword.

5. Dwarf shield skill would be enhanced to also give 50% damage resistance. This should help dwarves in pvp.

6. Mage slow spell should work at least once per second on players, if not each time used on a player that's not currently frozen.

7. Level 200 skill addition: At level 200, players will be able to "learn" one skill from another class. So, dwarves could have the archer fire skill (although without the range), etc. I think the exception might be if an archer learned the dwarf fury skill, it would need to be limited in range to a max of 2.

I think these changes will address some complaints that lots of players have with some different classes. What are your thoughts?

It sounds very interesting. I think it would be a good update.

I like the idea of a Freya/dwarf having a reduction skill available or even double hit as strong monsters are hard to kill with regular strength one on one. However as nice it would be I do wonder about it being a permanent skill addition if that is what I choose. To be able to throw an axe and freeze a strong monster would be helpful. I have no comment about it's use in PVP as it's not why I play.

On the freeze with monsters I would like the skill to work so you can hit a monster at even range one. As it is now if at range one they still do damage to you which defies the freeze definition.

The 50% damage reduction of course would also help with strong monsters.

This would be a step closer to the idea of choosing your own skill tree, though I think less is more and fits better with the style of game it is. Again PVP may be needing tweaking someone else will have to comment on that effect.

Thrown items have a longer range than melee attack range, I think 8.

That's not what I mean. Current freeze skills with monsters do not stop monster from attacking you unless at range two distance from them. So a freeze with a range one melee weapon is useless in stopping damage to you by the beast.

Ah, I understand. Freeze stops them from walking, not attacking. Same in PvP.

Interesting, certainly a new change and would encourage players who are already starting to find the game repetitive, the last point would have to be considered and evaluated but it certainly seems like a good idea to me.

I like this discussion.

I'm not sure about number 7 if I'm honest. If others can convince me through this chat, then all for the good.

1 to 6 are interesting though.
