Still exploring geodata – practical advice welcome

Hi everyone,
I’ve been reading and asking a lot about geodata lately, but I still feel like there’s so much more to understand—especially when it comes to practical applications.
For those of you who work with geodata regularly, what are the tools or platforms you rely on the most? Is it mostly GIS software, APIs, or something more custom depending on your field? And how do you usually source your data—through open datasets, satellite providers, or government agencies?
Also, how do you handle the challenge of accuracy and keeping things up to date, especially for projects that rely on real-time or near-real-time data?
I’d really appreciate any tips, recommendations, or even stories about how geodata has made a difference in your work.
Thanks again for all your help!
