What got you started playing rpg games?

I thought it might be fun to let our players tell how they began to play role playing games that made Forgotten Tales have an attraction to them.
For me it was two fold...one traditional games and two fledgling computer games.
It all started for physical games with Dungeons and Dragons. I was a somewhat inebriated monk named hieronymus who shared flagons of wine with beautiful Danaes who in real life later became my wife! Never know where role playing may lead you! The second was the masterful Heroquest board game with cool miniatures and furnishings and fun dungeon crawling suspense. It was fun crafting my own scenarios. It has been redone and released in 2021, my old copy of the game remains a treasure.
In computer games it all began with my Commodore 64 computer with various dungeon based games such as the Apshai games, my favorite Gateway to Apshai which was cartridge based instead of a disc or gulp a cassette based game loading!. I recall back then in early 80's writing in Commodore basic my own text based adventures with the what/ if set up and my favorite term Boolean loops. And a shout out to Rogue which a friend working on early speech recognition for Bell Labs had a dial up modem at home and I played for hours on his tini monochrome screen . Oh the days of youth!
There was no looking back...role playing games got into my blood!
