A few ramblings

Today is my birthday...and I don't say that to generate well wishes but rather to ask for your forgiveness in advance as I take the brash opportunity to share a few sentences of what I've learned in my life. It isn't all inclusive but just a few that have helped me as I am into my 8th decade of being alive. Here goes! 
An open hand is better than an iron fist.
Everyone wants to feel loved and feel they are appreciated and have purpose. Do what you can to bring that about.
We all eat and drink and breathe and stand upon earth, we are more alike than we realize.
The smallest pleasures are really the greatest.
You miss a lot if you are only looking ahead, pause and look and wonder.
Saying you are sorry is not a weakness but a strength.
The worst regret is not what we have done but what we failed to do.
The worst loss would not be if we lost everything but if we lost our sense of humor .
Pain is a tool that often helps fix us.
Joy over others is the greatest joy.
We all have a story, be quick to listen and slow to judge.
It is said only the strong survive, but it is not strength of wealth or position but of character.
Faith is better than fear.
