Some welcome

Yesterday I was logging in to do some quests cause I want to start playing again and a player whispered to me to sell him pets. I thought, sure why not. I was pretty broke since I'm low level.
So he asked how much. I haven't sold a pet in ages so I told him I didn't know. He replied 300 million and then he replied 900 million. I told him I had to check discord as I had no idea but I knew 900 million was not what pets were worth. Once I found out what they were selling for nowadays I logged back in and told him 7 billion per pet. He said ok.
When I opened the trade window he placed 1400m gold in the trade. This seemed not right to me so I canceled and clarified with him that I wanted billions not millions to which he replied "billions" letting me know he understood.
Since it had been forever since I last sold a pet I trusted him when he put 1400m in the trade window and I accepted. I reached out to some friends on another discord channel and they told me I got scammed. Apparently he should have put 14000m in the trade window.
So now I realized he shorted me 12.6 billion. Of course I haven't seen that player logged in since we made the trade. He friended me before we made the trade.
Some welcome back. My first trade with a player ended up being a scam. It certainly put a bad taste in my mouth and makes me not want to trust other players now. To be honest It makes me not want to play at all.
I imagine that player is just someone's alt and thats why I haven't seen him online every time I pop in to confront him. He knew exactly what he was doing when he scammed me.
I'm just bummed out and I feel violated. I feel cheated and it makes me angry.

I think a change in the game mechanics is in order since everything now is in billions not millions for large items. Your sale if redone could have said 1.4B not 1400M. That seems a logical adjustment in the game ....but comp doesn't play his game so unless it is brought up he may not think it important. It is just as confusing when you have 1400k for a lower level alt.

Why not a two step numerical process, one you choose a number 14, and you then choose the denomination H for hundreds, K for thousands, M for millions, and B for billions. Some people aren't good at mathematical gymnastics to convert it properly. I think such a change would remove these mistakes and give scammers one less tool at their disposal. I have made trades too and had to cancel because even the buyer was confused on how many zeros to add.

It is unfortunate you were trying to be helpful and got taken for your efforts.

I like your idea. It is certainly confusing to me how the gold is displayed in the inventory window as an american anyway.

I thought to myself that I could help a player who needed pets and also I needed gold too so it was a win win.

Alas, this is the reality of the game.

I know that trades are at my own risk so I'll be more careful in the future.

Update: The player (Scammer) finally logged on and I messaged them that they only gave me 1.4 billion instead of 14 billion and they removed me from there friends list.

Just goes to show you what trash this person is. No moral compass at all and didn't even try to work things out.
