class balance issue
after last updates, I saw mages as being too nerfed... getting killed all the time by archers, and not competitive in pvm for grinding. today, mike pointed out that mages still are much more powerful than everybody else at higher levels (don't know where the cutoff is, but it doesn't really matter.. the gap just widens from there) . my question is this: what would happen if mages were redone to the following: damage from yellow flow = 0.8 x mana, damage 1 enemy cost 2 mana to cast. damage from green flow = mana (stats from gear included, like other classes), damage all in range, except during pvp focused on that player (like it is now) costs 3 mana to cast.. I haven't really done a lot of math on it yet, but it still is true to the class, because mage can dump a lot of damage very quickly, but shouldn't get out of hand at higher levels.. input?

Re: class balance issue
That's a good point... low level mages would be difficult with this... really though, that is true to the class also when compared with most other fantasy/rpg type games, right?

Re: class balance issue
simple solution... Make a mage need to have dex to hit opponent like everybody else

Re: class balance issue
that's a good thought, it would help mike, but only postpone the same issue... (now that you've got me testing higher levels) that would make the "mage is too powerful" cutoff level later, but it would still be there...

Yes very later on. Maybe even too late on that you would have to be lvl 3000 . Maybe drop the dex stat and just use arm and str seen as a mage doesn't need dex why should we.

Re: class balance issue
at level 400 , with equal dex, and stats I used, mage still kills just over 50% faster...

Re: class balance issue
at least archer could have better build that way though... still think reducing damage per cast better option though

Re: class balance issue
that could work... it would just have to be increasingly better all ... it would way outpace mage gear, but Maybe that's ok... so long as you don't lose your gear :/

This is not a bad idea, but the only issue I see with it, you get 2 points to raise skill level when you level up. Mages have the area of mana where no other class does. With this extra slot, skill points would be spread too thin I think. Maybe mana grows as your level does? This may do away with the "Mana Mage" mentality. Maybe.
