I will try explaining it without translating. I have to thank you for asking this because I found out a bugSoulSilver wrote:Could someone translate the explaining with -5 to +5 i dont get it on english. And google is a bad translater..

Imagine that you have a dice with 11 sides (marked from -5 to 5). You roll it. You get some number. In Forgotten Tales this number represents what happens in the battle. The rules are like this:
1. If you got number 5 than you have a so called critical hit - dexterites are not compared, and enemy's armor does not reduce your damage. Basically, you hit with full force.
2. If you got numbers from -5 to 4 then the game compares your DEX vs enemy's DEX. It is quite simple: your DEX + dice roll have to be greater then enemy's DEX. Example: your DEX is 50, enemy's is 45. If dice roll is -5 than your DEX + dice roll is 45 which is the same as enemy's DEX, so you miss. If dice roll is higher than -5 than you hit. Example 2: your DEX is 50, enemy's is 52. In order to have higher DEX then enemy dice roll should be at least 3. If dice roll is lower than 3 then you miss.
3. Now, if you have a hit (from step 2) than armor comes into play (critical hit from step 1 is never reduced by armor!). If your dice roll was 4 enemy's armor DOES NOT reduce your attack. If your dice roll was lower than 4 then enemy's armor DOES reduce your attack. Example: your STR is 100, enemy's armor is 60. If dice roll was 4 you make 100 damage. If dice roll was lower than 4 you make 40 damage.
Examples that takes everything into account:
Example 1
Your DEX is 50, enemy's DEX is 52
Your STR is 100, enemy's ARM is 60
Dice roll: 5
You have a critical hit, so the damage is 100 (your STR).
Dice roll: 4
Your DEX + dice roll = 53. It is higher than enemy's DEX, so you have a hit.
Since dice roll is 4 enemy's armor does not reduce your STR.
Damage you do is therefore 100 (your STR).
Dice roll: 3
Your DEX + dice roll = 53. It is higher than enemy's DEX, so you have a hit.
Since dice roll is lower than 4 enemy's armor reduces your STR.
Damage you do is therefore 100 (your STR) - 60 (enemy's STR) = 40.
Dice roll: 2 (and lower)
Your DEX + dice roll = 52. It is lower than enemy's DEX, so you miss.
Example 2
Your DEX is 50, enemy's DEX is 55
Your STR is 100, enemy's ARM is 150
Dice roll: 5
You have a critical hit, so the damage is 100 (your STR).
Dice roll: 4 (and lower)
Your DEX + dice roll = 54. It is lower than enemy's DEX, so you miss.
Example 3
Your DEX is 50, enemy's DEX is 47
Your STR is 100, enemy's ARM is 110
Dice roll: 5
You have a critical hit, so the damage is 100 (your STR).
Dice roll: 4
Your DEX + dice roll = 54.
Since enemy's ARM is higher than your STR you make a damage of 0.
Dice roll: -3 (and lower)
Your DEX + dice roll = 47. It is the same as enemy's DEX, so you miss.
