Removal of Adds

I purchased remove adds for my Racoon account. It worked but today I was shocked to see the adds are back is it only temporary or supposed to be permanent?
This is a problem on the google end.. its been reported several times (and fixed) on forum already.
I don't use google play, so not sure exactly.. but, I think it involved either clearing of cache, or reinstall..
