Crafting Skills Improvement

I'm still fairly new to Forgotten Tales but quit experienced when it comes to MMORPGs. One thing I have noticed is a lack of character customization. When I see another player the same level as me they usually have the exact same armor and they have the exact same amount of skill points. I believe the 125 chest pieces are the only items of the same level with different stats, I would love to see more armor variety for each level with different stats. Another way to add a bit of surprise to PvP would be to use crafting skill points to modify your characters main stats. Example:

Crafting = Armor
Chopping = Dexterity
Mining = Strength
Building = Strength
Fishing = Dexterity

Each skill point could equal 1% stat increase. If my Armor, Strength and Dexterity were all 100 and my crafting skills were 3, 5, 6, 4, 3 them my modified stats would be Armor 103, Strength 110 and Dexterity 108. This would add a bit more customization and a bit more thrill and risk to PvP as you would not know exactly what your opponent's stats are. This would also add a little benefit to building bases and crafting for people. Right now you either can work on you base for the clan or go level to make you character better. This change would allow you to do both. I personally love crafting, I think it’s the best part of RPG's, and I know many others that feel the same way. This would allow people to help their clan and members without falling so far behind on character progression.

Fantastic idea. I have to say that (at the moment, at least) I personally hate crafting and rarely bother doing so for items but do so when quest requirements dictate.

Having said that, an item customisation idea such as yours would definitely encourage me to go and buy a pick axe, fishing rod or whatever. It would be an interesting twist were this to be introduced.

Additionally I left out the mana stat on purpose as one, mages can still benefit slightly from strength, dexterity and armor, and two, this will help bring all other classes a bit closer to the power of a mage. This is by no means a fix for the over powered mage problem but it will at least help slightly.

I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of the game mechanics could weigh in on this. I'd really like to know if this would be an easy add to the game or if it would be too difficult and its not worth looking in to.

I certainly don't have any say lol... but I'll weigh in - I like the general concept, but to be honest, I'd be very surprised to see it added to the game... there used to be a quest that added two strength points... that ended up proving problematic since those 2 extra points were not directly received from levels (initial points are figured in at the base)... anyway, those 2 points presented some issues with the game mechanics, and the quest was eventually removed from the game, and players who still had the points were given a level instead

Well I hope somthing can be arrange cause the idea is brilliant. The whole concept makes sense. I never go fishing but introducing somthing like this would have me by a pond for hours lol. And adding duffrent kind of fish would help to lol. And make Chance for fish to spit out item ooh that would be nice ;). Lol

No this isn't in the game... as an earlier post said it would require a change in game mechanics... remember this game is created and run by a single person and he isn't a professional programmer.. I think he is a doctor.... he is self taught on gamemaking. therefore the more complex the idea the less likely it will happen..... more craftabe items would be the easier solution

for instance take an iron plate add gold bars and carbon bars and you get reinforced iron plate L90 with increased ARM

Or take an iron plate and add spectre dust and you get flex iron plate L90 with increased DEX

Or take an iron plate add steel bars and you get striker iron plate with increased STR

the graphic would be easy take the same graphic and put a differing outlines around it...

this concept can be done for any item using existing game mechanics and create enhanced versions of existing items.
